About the job
We are working with a well-established supply chain specialist to recruit a Transport Planner to work permanently, on a 4 on/off working pattern. The salary would be commensurate with experience.

About the role:
- Undertake the daily planning for 25-30 vehicles, which involves meeting timed deliveries as required by customers and finding suitable UK reloads.
- Liaising with the drivers throughout the day and monitoring their progress to ensure they complete required work in the required timescales.
- Communicating effectively with customers to keep them informed on delivery progress.
- Organising planning of vehicle availability for vehicle service schedule and maintenance/repairs of vehicles and trailers, such as creating schedules and monitoring associated costs.
- Reviewing practices to ensure that transport is utilised using the most cost-effective solution Using third party hauliers to cover loads beyond capacity of fleet.
- Have an awareness of industry compliance and relevant legislation.
- Answering any incoming phone calls and dealing with them in the appropriate way.
- Carry out any other tasks required to keep the transport office and vehicles/drivers running.
- Learning other roles within the business to assist in the future development.
Required experience:
- Managers CPC Qualification is an advantage but not essential.
- Knowledge of driver’s hours/working time directive regulations.
- 3 years minimum experience of working within the UK transport industry with good geographical knowledge of the UK would also be beneficial.
- You must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office / Excel.
