Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides on-site nursing care and support to adolescents and young adults residing in Newport Healthcare facilities. This role requires a commitment to upholding the mission and core values of Newport Healthcare while ensuring compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulations, including OSHA, HIPAA, and local, state, and federal guidelines.

Essential Duties

  • Administer medications safely and accurately.
  • Obtain and document vital signs in medical records.
  • Assess and address medical concerns from residents, communicating with the appropriate Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Medical Doctor (MD) as needed.
  • Develop treatment plans when required, provide direct care, and deliver nursing services in accordance with program regulations and client health screenings.
  • Monitor and manage chronic health conditions, respiratory distress, and seizures.
  • Maintain essential medical documentation, including Medication Administration Records, medical charts, infection control logs, and other required records.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings as needed.
  • Adhere to mandated reporting requirements, biohazard protocols, infection control procedures, and medical guidelines.
  • Ensure timely and accurate administration of medications and manage pharmacy orders.
  • Communicate medication-related concerns with Care Coordinators (CCs).
  • Process medication refills promptly and properly dispose of medications in compliance with DEA protocols.
  • Collaborate with operations staff to order necessary medical equipment.
  • Perform phlebotomy as required.
  • Attend meetings as scheduled and actively contribute as a member of the interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment.
  • Experience in residential nursing is preferred.
