Job description
A leading public accounting firm, is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Tax Accountant to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tax accounting and be comfortable working remotely. This position is responsible for preparing and researching tax laws and regulations, and assisting clients in achieving their financial goals. This unlike many other fully remote public accounting opportunities in that you have the opportunity to progress all the way to the partner level while remaining fully remote.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, non-profit organizations, and trusts, ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations.
- Assist with tax planning and projections for clients, identifying potential tax-saving strategies and opportunities.
- Research and analyze complex tax issues, providing clear and concise written explanations and recommendations to clients and team members.
- Communicate effectively with clients to gather necessary financial information and respond to tax-related inquiries.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest tax laws and regulations, including attending relevant tax seminars and training events.
- Maintain the highest levels of confidentiality and professionalism while handling sensitive client information.
- Manage and prioritize multiple assignments and deadlines, demonstrating strong organizational and time management skills.
- Continuously work towards enhancing tax accounting knowledge and skills through self-directed learning and ongoing professional development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; a Master’s degree in Taxation or related field preferred.
- CPA license or progress towards obtaining CPA certification is highly desirable.
- A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in public accounting with a focus on tax.
- Proficiency in tax preparation software, such as ProSystem fx, CCH Axcess, or similar platforms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to research and interpret complex tax issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex tax concepts to clients and team members clearly.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate and high-quality work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a remote environment, while maintaining strong working relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- A proactive and adaptable mindset, with a willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment.
