Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering safe and effective patient care by utilizing the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. They provide direct patient care within their scope of practice and maintain high standards of care within the Med/Surg/Telemetry Unit.

The Registered Nurse also leads patient and family education, coordinates the activities of other nursing personnel, and is directly accountable for the care provided to their assigned patients. They communicate effectively with physicians regarding changes in a patient’s clinical condition, including cardiac monitoring, diagnostic study results, and symptomatology. Additionally, they are expected to respond promptly and accurately to any changes in a patient’s condition or reaction to treatment.

Qualifications

Education and Certifications:

  • Current and valid state Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification at the time of hire, with ongoing maintenance.
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 30 days of hire, with ongoing maintenance.
  • Proficiency in Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.

Experience and Skills:

  • Previous experience in an Acute Care hospital setting is preferred.
  • Experience with ventilator management is preferred.
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
