Responsibilities:

  • Direct Patient Care (80%):

    • Provide comprehensive patient care, including prescribing, developing, monitoring, and supporting treatment plans in accordance with regulations and protocols.
    • Issue medication prescriptions following established treatment guidelines.
    • Order, interpret, and explain laboratory test results to patients.
    • Educate patients about medications, risks, benefits, and realistic outcome expectations.
    • Communicate with patients and provide necessary follow-up care.
    • Refer patients requiring specialized care based on established screening guidelines to ensure quality of care and optimal outcomes.
    • Maintain accurate medical records and high-quality clinical documentation.
    • Deliver empathetic and non-judgmental medical care, patient education, and medication prescribing/management.
    • Cover critical outreach shifts for remote patient monitoring up to three days per week (including two shift hours on weekends) and some one-hour shifts at 7 am or 7 pm.
    • Contact members identified through remote monitoring protocols and, if necessary, prescribe rescue medications or direct them to community medicine/emergency services.
  • Training, Clinical Oversight, and Mentorship (20%):

    • Provide training, clinical oversight, and mentorship to NPs, PAs, and/or MAs.
    • Support the interviewing and hiring of new clinical staff.
    • Develop and deliver training materials.
    • Shadow frontline staff providing patient care and offer clinical feedback.
    • Conduct clinical audits and meet with staff according to regulatory guidance.
    • Provide real-time mentorship and answer clinical staff questions during working hours.
    • Ensure compliance with Vida and client protocols and programs.

Qualifications:

  • Physician (MD or DO) with an active, unrestricted license in 15-20+ states (applicants close to meeting this requirement are still encouraged to apply).
  • Board certification strongly preferred in internal medicine or family medicine; other specialties considered, with preference given to those who have completed a full internal medicine residency.
  • Must obtain board certification in obesity management from the American Board of Obesity Medicine as soon as reasonably practicable, at the company’s expense.
  • Availability to cover at least three critical outreach shifts per week, including weekend shifts, early mornings (7 am), or evenings (7 pm).
  • Experience supervising and mentoring clinical staff.
  • Experience treating CHF, COPD, diabetes, and/or obesity preferred.
  • Experience working with patients, clients, and other clinical providers in an integrated setting.
  • Meticulous organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Previous experience with quality assurance and improvement practices preferred.
  • Experience with digital technology.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and accountability for specific goals/objectives.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, leadership, conflict management, and team-building skills for a productive work environment and goal achievement.
  • Strong aptitude for working in a fast-paced, startup environment.
  • Proficiency with EMR (electronic medical record) systems.
