Ernest is currently in search of a Staff Accountant for our corporate office located in Commerce, CA. This is a full-time position that offers a competitive base salary, benefits, and a wonderful company culture.
Job Purpose
• This position is responsible for performing a variety of accounting duties to ensure accurate and timely completion of work within the Finance Department.
• Actively supports the achievement of the Company by performing a variety of higher level accounting duties and responsibilities.
• Promotes and protects Ernest Packaging Solutions’ core values including teamwork and respect of others in order to maintain a positive work environment.
• Builds and maintains positive working relationships within the Department, the Division, and the Company through professional interactions.
Essential Functions
1. Month end close and Year end close for the divisions assigned.
2. Prepares financial statements including Balance Sheets and Income Statements.
3. Reconciles General Ledger accounts and investigate any unreconciled differences.
4. Prepares journal entries including proper General Ledger account, department, division, and project cost coding.
5. Maintains monthly amortization schedules.
6. Prepares monthly bank reconciliations and investigates any unreconciled differences.
7. Calculates monthly sales commissions.
Secondary Functions
1. Assists in the preparation of annual budgets (sales and expense).
2. Completes other government forms as assigned.
3. Assists various other departments with accounting related issues (e.g. G/L coding questions).
Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
2. Minimum of three years’ experience in Accounting.
3. Proficiency in SAP a plus.
4. Must have strong computer skills and the ability to learn in a fast-paced environment.
5. Must be able to create and/or maintain Excel spreadsheets using formulas
6. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision to meet deadlines.
7. Must demonstrate the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
8. Attention to detail is a must.
9. Experience with multiple entities is a plus.
