About the Job

We are seeking a skilled Tax Professional to join our team and support our tax department with various compliance and reporting responsibilities. This role involves preparing monthly sales tax returns, business personal property tax filings, overseeing unclaimed property reporting, managing estimated tax payments, and assisting with research on sales tax regulations, state registrations, 1099s, income/franchise tax, and other tax-related matters.

This position reports to the Tax Director and requires a bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance, along with 3+ years of experience in a tax or accounting environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly sales tax returns
  • Complete business personal property tax filings
  • Oversee unclaimed property reporting
  • Schedule and manage federal and state tax payments
  • Assist in responding to various tax notices
  • Conduct tax compliance research, including legislative changes and sales tax treatment
  • Assist with state and jurisdictional tax registrations
  • Support the preparation of annual reports and other business tax filings
  • Aid in 1099 preparation
  • Collaborate with all levels of the organization
  • Perform additional duties as needed beyond core responsibilities

Qualifications & Skills

To excel in this role, an individual must demonstrate proficiency in tax regulations, attention to detail, and strong analytical skills.

  • 3+ years of general tax experience in a corporate tax department or public accounting
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
  • Strong understanding of state sales and use tax laws
  • Knowledge of personal property tax regulations
  • General understanding of income and franchise tax
  • CPA certification preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a dynamic environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • High level of intellectual curiosity with a passion for learning technical concepts
  • Proficiency in Excel, including VLOOKUP and advanced pivot tables
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and make sound, timely decisions
