We are creating a new, dynamic Procurement team and are looking for a talented Senior Logistics Planner to oversee key freight operations.

CastleGate Forwarding (CGF) is a rapidly growing digital freight forwarding start-up within Wayfair, moving containers across the globe to Wayfair’s shelves and elsewhere. We offer a full suite of shipping services (Asia consolidation, ocean freight, haulage, customs brokerage, cargo insurance, etc.) that aims to provide Wayfair suppliers with competitive and convenient logistics solutions. Our proprietary end-to-end logistics network enables us to drive speed, quality and lower costs.

As a Senior Logistics Planner you will oversee critical elements of our freight operations, ensuring smooth coordination across our carriers and between the port and warehouse in order to get our goods to the customer as fast as possible.

What you’ll do:

This role has two aspects to it, the first being strategic and the second focusing on planning and execution.

You’ll strategically oversee the operational performance of a segment of our haulage system, identifying and implementing process improvements along the way to enhance efficiency.

Coordinating across carriers, ports and warehouses you’ll ensure timely transit times that are cost effective. The relationship between our carriers and us will be managed by you, with full autonomy for you to make any improvements necessary to optimise performance.

Finally, you will act as a point of reference for junior team members, and you’ll provide coaching and guidance to peers on best practices, and day to day operations.

What you’ll have:

  • Demonstrable experience successfully operating within a procurement or finance environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate and identify the root cause of a problem and clearly translate to the relevant parties enabling a quick solution
  • Engaging communication skills, with the ability to effectively connect, influence and negotiate with vendors.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to prioritise and multitask effectively
  • Strong IT system and application knowledge (Microsoft Office, Google Suite- especially Excel).
  • Experience of working within Logistics or Supply Chain is beneficial but not essential
