What you’ll be doing
As one of the first hires for the team, you’ll report directly to the Head of Data. This is a hands-on role where you’ll design, implement, and maintain the company’s data architecture, advancing its data engineering capabilities. It’s a hybrid position, blending both architecture and engineering, with support to upskill on the architecture side if necessary.
You’ll collaborate with cross-functional product teams, including BI, Data Science & Analytics, and Data Engineering, to align data strategies and optimise infrastructure.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Data Transfers: Overcoming challenges related to transferring large tables from SQL Server to Snowflake and ensuring smooth data flows across the organisation.
- Integration & Standardisation: Reviewing and integrating data from tools like Azure Data Factory, Python, and Snowflake, while standardising processes and building scalable systems.
- Architectural Vision: Working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to define and enforce best practices, ensuring the architecture supports data-driven decision-making across analytics, machine learning, and BI.
About you
You’ll bring strong expertise in:
- Azure Data Factory: Experience working at scale is highly valued.
- Python: Advanced skills in building and optimising data pipelines.
- SQL: Proficiency in querying and transforming data to ensure accuracy.
- ETL: Experience designing and managing ETL processes for data integration and transformation.
- Cloud Environments: Hands-on experience with Azure, including setting up and managing production environments.
