Pricing & Financial Analyst – Key Responsibilities & Qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Analysis & Financial Modeling: Query, review, and analyze data to develop pricing and financial models using advanced Excel, Access, and SQL techniques for opportunities from pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), health plans, and healthcare consultants.
  • Forecasting & Underwriting Models: Create and maintain advanced financial forecasting and underwriting models utilizing Excel functions such as pivot tables, macros, VLOOKUP, INDEX+MATCH, SUMIFS, troubleshooting formula errors, and formula auditing.
  • Database Management: Utilize Microsoft Access, SAS, and SQL to query and analyze large, complex datasets, incorporating parameter queries, action queries, table joins, cross-tab queries, and automation macros.
  • Tracking & Process Improvement: Lead data tracking, analysis, reporting, and automation efforts, continuously enhancing pricing mechanisms and implementing process improvements.
  • Business Insights & Reporting: Provide actionable insights by identifying trends, anomalies, and opportunities in financial data to drive improved pricing strategies and business outcomes.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work cross-functionally with executives and leadership teams, effectively communicating findings through clear, concise reports and presentations.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Math, Business, Actuarial Science, or Pharmacoeconomics with 1+ years of experience in PBM, Contracting, Finance, Account Management, or Pricing
    • OR a high school diploma/GED with 4+ years of relevant experience
    • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • 1+ years of financial analysis and pricing experience
    • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, macros, VLOOKUP, INDEX+MATCH, SUMIFS, troubleshooting formula errors)
    • Intermediate proficiency in SQL, SAS, and Microsoft Access for querying large datasets
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills:
    • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to identify trends, patterns, and root causes
    • Ability to work with ambiguous data, make informed decisions, and drive business improvements
  • Communication & Organizational Skills:
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for presenting insights to executives and leadership.
