About the Role

Elevance Health is seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to lead the implementation and expansion of our Zero-Trust Network Access (ZTNA), Secure Access Service Edge (SASE), and Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB) initiatives. This role will focus on Netskope and other security solutions to enhance our zero-trust and secure access capabilities. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical expert who collaborates with vendors, business units, and IT teams to ensure visibility and control over cloud utilization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of security requirements, system architecture, and software design.
  • Develop security incident response plans and strategies for threat detection and mitigation.
  • Troubleshoot complex security issues and serve as a technical escalation point.
  • Present security solutions and obtain IT management approval for major system enhancements.
  • Define and implement vendor strategies and direction.
  • Design and deploy comprehensive access management and network security solutions based on business needs.
  • Update technology direction and security strategies in collaboration with architecture teams.
  • Generate reports to support management decisions and strategy planning.
  • Provide technical leadership in mergers and acquisitions related to cybersecurity.
  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) across multiple security domains, including:
    • Access Control
    • Application Security
    • Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery
    • Cryptography
    • Risk Management & Compliance
    • Operations & Network Security
    • Security Architecture & Design
  • Deploy and manage secure web gateways, ZTNA, cloud firewalls, remote browser isolation, and SASE solutions using Netskope.
  • Develop security architectures that align with cloud strategies (AWS, Azure, GCP) and regulatory requirements.
  • Configure and troubleshoot Netskope solutions (CASB, SWG, ZTNA, SASE) for optimal performance.
  • Perform risk assessments, collaborate with stakeholders, and implement threat mitigation strategies.
  • Mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance to key security stakeholders.
  • Maintain detailed security documentation, including knowledge bases, runbooks, and reference architectures.
  • Monitor emerging threats and contribute to the enhancement of enterprise security strategies.
  • Design and analyze security testing plans to validate resilience against potential threats.
  • Ensure seamless cybersecurity integration during mergers and acquisitions through effective collaboration with stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in systems administration, cybersecurity, access management, and network security technologies.
  • Expertise in network communications, computer networking, security policies, hardware/software management, and IT operations.
  • Strong experience across multiple technical and business disciplines.
  • Broad knowledge to design and implement complex security solutions.
  • Equivalent education and experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Certifications: NCCSA, NCCSI, CISSP, CCSK, AWS, Azure, GCP (strongly preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in enterprise network security.
  • Deep expertise in Netskope solutions (CASB, SWG, ZTNA) and policy configuration.
  • Strong knowledge of AWS, Azure, and GCP security principles, including identity and access management (IAM).
  • Experience with routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), WAN/LAN architectures, SD-WAN, SDN, and DevSecOps.
  • Advanced understanding of data security controls, hardware, software, and communications technologies.
  • Proficiency in Python, Java, or C#, and experience with Terraform or CloudFormation (JSON).
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot and resolve security issues in multi-cloud and hybrid environments.
  • Excellent communication skills for mentoring teams, stakeholder presentations, and audit responses.
  • Experience with automated security validation, event-driven automation, and DevSecOps.
  • Familiarity with integrating security solutions with ticketing and asset management systems.
