Team Overview
Our Cloud Operations organization manages and supports the infrastructure of all our platforms, from hardware to software, to operating systems to PowerSchool products and consists of multiple teams. This collaborative organization helps meet the needs of an evolving technology and business model with a specialized focus on protecting customer data and keeping information secure. This position is for the team responsible for deploying, monitoring, and maintaining the security of our hosted assets.

Description
A Cloud Operations engineer is responsible for designing, deploying, managing, and optimizing cloud infrastructure and services. They ensure the availability, performance, and security of cloud-based applications and resources while monitoring and responding to incidents and issues. This role requires expertise in cloud platforms, automation, and best practices. This position
Your Day-to-day Job Will Consist Of
- Execute ticket triage, investigation and resolution of reported incidents
- Investigate and report on security events identified by the Security Operations Center and vendor tools
- Troubleshooting problems with user accounts and application access
- Performing daily system administration tasks to verify that all systems are up and running
- Installing and configurating of highly available cloud-based software and customer environments
- Monitoring and troubleshooting application and infrastructure issues to ensure high availability, optimal performance and system responsiveness
- Operate and maintain orchestration routines in production
- Complete periodic application software and infrastructure updates and software version upgrades using automation and tools
- Participate in after-hours maintenance, when necessary, respond to emergencies, participate in customer calls when called upon in support of initiatives and incident response
- Participate in 24/7 on-call support including shift rotations where required
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 5+ years of relevant and related work experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or equivalent years of relevant work experience.
- Additional experience may be substitute for an advanced Degree.
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in server administration and cloud deployment of both Windows and Linux
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience deploying and managing automated OS patching and vulnerability scanning
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) orchestration technologies such as Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Salt, Cloud Formation, ARM Templates, or comparable (demonstrable proficiency or professional experience in same preferred)
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience with CI/CD techniques and tools such as Jenkins, Travis, and Bamboo
- Ability to handle a heavy workload with multiple projects and frequent interruptions
- Ability to work in a changing, dynamic environment
- Strong problem-solving ability across applications and their supporting infrastructure in a cloud environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- 3-5 years of professional experience with security events
- 3-5 years of professional experience with Enhanced Data and Remediation (EDR) tools such as Crowdstrike
