Description

SAIC is hiring a Senior Cloud Engineer for an active contract with the FAA HQ in Washington, DC. This position is remote and the applicant can reside anywhere within the U.S. but must be able to travel to SAIC facilities (Reston, VA and Washington D.C.) and FAA customer facilities (Washington, D.C. and Atlantic City, NJ) on an as-needed basis.

As a senior cloud engineer you would be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing cloud-based systems and solutions to meet FAA customer needs. Position involves a mix of infrastructure management, software development, and system architecture. Individual will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless integration of cloud solutions, optimize system performance, and enhance operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors system performance and availability, ensuring high uptime.
  • Optimizes cloud resources to balance performance and cost-effectiveness.
  • Works closely with developers, DevOps teams, and other stakeholders to integrate cloud solutions.
  • Proposes and implements enhancements to existing cloud systems.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelors degree and nine (9) years or more of related experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more of related experience
  • Experience managing applications on AWS
  • Understanding of High Availability Concepts and experience with fault-tolerant system architectures and disaster recovery strategies
  • Experience in deploying applications across multiple AZs within AWS
  • Hands-on experience with (CI/CD) pipelines using GitLab.
  • Use of AWS CloudWatch for monitoring resources and applications, setting alarms, and reacting to changes in an AWS environment
  • Hands-on experience using AWS security services for threat detection and continuous monitoring
  • Use of SonarQube for code quality, and automatic reviews with static analysis
  • Experience in managing applications using OpenShift
  • Familiarity with the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FEDRamp) High impact level requirements.
  • The ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.

  • Experience working on an Agile development team.
  • History working with the FAA or DOT data.
