The Opportunity:
Our client, a successful and growing real estate development company in Western Canada, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their dynamic team. As a key member of our finance team, you will have the opportunity to work with a group of motivated and talented individuals while gaining valuable experience in a dynamic and supportive environment. In this role, you will be responsible for the overall financial management of our growing portfolio, including tasks such as contracts and agreement analysis, project set-up, cost recording, revenue recognition, bookkeeping, and project closure. Success Criteria and Deliverables:
- Solid understanding of business and finance function within 3 months of employment
- Good understanding of company and business objectives and processes
- Hands-on involvement in month-end close process
What We Need From You:
- CPA designated with 3-5 years of accounting experience
- Strong experience in AR/AP/payroll with a focus on accounts receivable
- Previous experience in financial reporting, with an emphasis on private reporting and KPI reporting
- Experience in the real estate industry is highly preferred
- Previous experience in audit and controls, including external audit preparation
- Strong understanding of full cycle accounting, including intercompany transactions and consolidations
- Experience in financial planning and analysis, with a focus on budgeting and forecasting, financial modeling, and driving strategic initiatives
- Familiarity with Canadian corporate tax regulations
- Intermediate level proficiency in Excel, including formulas and pivot tables
- Experience with Quickbooks and other financial systems
- Fluent English language skills, both oral and written
