Role of Job

At Blue Cross of Idaho, Sales Representatives play a key role in driving new small-group and individual sales within targeted market segments across a designated territory. This position is responsible for prospecting, generating leads, and implementing effective sales strategies to achieve Medicare Advantage sales and membership growth in Eastern Idaho.

This role requires an onsite presence at local offices and client locations within Eastern Idaho, including Idaho Falls, Pocatello, and surrounding areas. After the initial training period, the position offers a hybrid work model, with three days onsite at our Idaho Falls campus, field-based sales activities, and remote work flexibility.

Required Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience (Two years of relevant experience equates to one year of college. If no degree is completed, candidates must have at least 8 years of relevant experience in addition to the required experience listed below).

  • State of Idaho Resident License (must be obtained within 120 days of hire).

Travel Requirements

  • Must be able to travel and attend off-site events during and outside standard working hours.

Required Experience

We are seeking candidates with 3+ years of experience in sales, account management, or a related field—ideally within the healthcare insurance industry, specifically in individual or small-group coverage. Key competencies include:

  • Strong understanding of the company’s market position and the ability to identify opportunities for membership growth.

  • Confidence in public speaking and presenting to audiences of varying sizes and backgrounds.

  • Proficiency in resolving complex problems and challenges effectively.

  • Strategic thinking and creativity in developing sales and marketing techniques to drive success, including alternative funding arrangements.


What Your Day Might Look Like

  • Develop and execute sales strategies to meet objectives for assigned products and market segments, focusing on small-group and individual plans.

  • Create and deliver compelling sales proposals and presentations to diverse audiences, ensuring active participation in community and industry organizations.

  • Prospect, engage, and negotiate with individuals, brokers, consultants, and groups to drive new memberships.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships to foster business growth and ensure client retention.

  • Identify opportunities for expansion by analyzing data, industry trends, and market reports to provide valuable insights.

  • Maintain accurate records in sales tools, tracking activities, call notes, prospect information, and strategic follow-ups.

  • Monitor competitor activity and industry trends to provide leadership with relevant insights.

  • Assess broker, customer, and client needs to offer tailored product recommendations and solutions.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $58,787 – $100,391 (based on experience, skills, and other relevant factors).
