Education, Experience, and Licensure Requirements
- NBCOT certification required upon hire; renewal is optional thereafter.
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program (BSOT or MSOT).
- Must be currently registered/licensed in the applicable state and maintain an active license in good standing throughout employment.
- Preferred: One (1) year of experience in post-acute care or a related setting.
- CPR certification required upon hire or must be obtained during orientation; certification must remain current throughout employment.
Specific Job Requirements
- Participate in community health initiatives and projects as appropriate.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email communication.
- Serve as a liaison with patients, families, and support departments to effectively plan for patient needs.
- Demonstrate proper body mechanics at all times.
- Make independent decisions when necessary.
- Possess knowledge of best practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines relevant to post-acute care facilities.
- Implement and interpret departmental programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
- Exhibit proficiency in all competency areas, including patient rights, safety, and sanitation.
- Maintain professional working relationships with colleagues, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Uphold confidentiality of proprietary and sensitive information.
- Adhere to company policies, including harassment and compliance procedures.
- Demonstrate integrity and professionalism by following Life Care’s Code of Conduct and completing required compliance training.
Essential Functions
- Follow occupational therapy treatment plans for patients, including activities of daily living.
- Establish, assess, and adjust realistic, measurable, and functional goals in a timely manner.
- Supervise and evaluate the care provided by Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTAs), Rehab Aides, and students.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
- Utilize therapy software efficiently and correctly.
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive attitude toward patients.
- Assist in patient evacuation if needed.
- Demonstrate consistent and reliable attendance.
- Apply critical thinking, reasoning skills, and sound judgment.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
- Perform physical tasks including sitting, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, walking, reaching, and moving intermittently during work hours.
- Read, write, speak, and comprehend English fluently.
