Education, Experience, and Licensure Requirements

  • NBCOT certification required upon hire; renewal is optional thereafter.
  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program (BSOT or MSOT).
  • Must be currently registered/licensed in the applicable state and maintain an active license in good standing throughout employment.
  • Preferred: One (1) year of experience in post-acute care or a related setting.
  • CPR certification required upon hire or must be obtained during orientation; certification must remain current throughout employment.

Specific Job Requirements

  • Participate in community health initiatives and projects as appropriate.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email communication.
  • Serve as a liaison with patients, families, and support departments to effectively plan for patient needs.
  • Demonstrate proper body mechanics at all times.
  • Make independent decisions when necessary.
  • Possess knowledge of best practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines relevant to post-acute care facilities.
  • Implement and interpret departmental programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • Exhibit proficiency in all competency areas, including patient rights, safety, and sanitation.
  • Maintain professional working relationships with colleagues, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Uphold confidentiality of proprietary and sensitive information.
  • Adhere to company policies, including harassment and compliance procedures.
  • Demonstrate integrity and professionalism by following Life Care’s Code of Conduct and completing required compliance training.

Essential Functions

  • Follow occupational therapy treatment plans for patients, including activities of daily living.
  • Establish, assess, and adjust realistic, measurable, and functional goals in a timely manner.
  • Supervise and evaluate the care provided by Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTAs), Rehab Aides, and students.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
  • Utilize therapy software efficiently and correctly.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive attitude toward patients.
  • Assist in patient evacuation if needed.
  • Demonstrate consistent and reliable attendance.
  • Apply critical thinking, reasoning skills, and sound judgment.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Perform physical tasks including sitting, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, walking, reaching, and moving intermittently during work hours.
  • Read, write, speak, and comprehend English fluently.
