Position Summary
As this position is located in a designated rural area, you could qualify for the Tuition Grant Assistance Program.
Required
• Current Certificate of Registration in good standing, or eligible for registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Current certification in ACLS, or at a minimum BCLS or CPR, or proof of enrolment in a recertification course. You will be asked to provide a copy of your valid certificate at the time of hire/transfer.
• Current ACLS Certification or able obtain within 6 months of the commencement of the position.
• Completion of Coronary Care 1 or equivalent (ex. QHC Cardio Concepts) or obtain within 6 months of the commencement of the position.
• Minimum 1-year recent acute care experience in a medical/surgical department within the last 2 years, or 6 consistent months’ acute care experience in an ED environment (for example – transition pool or NGGI), or final consolidation within an ED environment.
• Able to accompany patients on transfers (i.e.. ambulance transfers).
• Evidence of continuing professional development (please list most recent 3 on application).
• Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload (Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) available to review).
Duties
• Demonstrated leadership, critical thinking, interpersonal and communication skills to assume in charge responsibility to function independently.
• Practices within the scope of professional, legal and ethical standards.
• Accountable to seek out and obtain education to enhance/improve practice.
• Formulates the plan of care in collaboration with other members of the interdisciplinary team.
• Continuously assesses, monitors and evaluates data regarding the patients physical, emotional, and psycho-social status.
• Continuous analysis of data to formulate nursing response and interventions based on the patient/family wishes, priorities, and needs.
• Plans interventions in collaboration with the inter-professional care team to formulate an overall plan of care.
• Implements the established plan of care in collaboration with the inter-professional team using advanced skill and knowledge within his/her professional scope of practice.
• Evaluates patient outcomes in a manner consistent with independent and interdependent nursing functions.
• Other duties as assigned.
North Hastings Hospital (NHH) is located in the small, picturesque town of Bancroft. North Hastings Hospital is the smallest and most rural of Quinte Health’s four hospitals, and works closely with the Bancroft Family Health Team. It is a six-bed primary care hospital that operates a busy, 24/7 emergency department (including emergency obstetrics). The inpatient beds are available for medical and palliative care services. North Hastings Hospital also provides diagnostic services, physiotherapy, outreach clinics and telemedicine services. NHH works closely with the other three Quinte Health hospitals, as well as regional health centres, to serve the community together. The North Hastings Hospital team is truly like one big family. They not only work together, but often spend time together within the community.
