Purpose
This role is responsible for delivering safe, effective, and culturally competent care to patients ranging from adolescents to aging adults with diverse health needs. Key responsibilities include assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care, utilizing critical thinking and evidence-based practice. The position adheres to Professional Practice Standards as outlined by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and actively participates in quality monitoring and performance improvement initiatives.
Reporting Structure
Reports to: Manager
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Provides guidance, instruction, training, and direction to colleagues.
- Assists in scheduling, assigning, or coordinating tasks.
- Acts as a group leader or informal assistant supervisor but does not hold formal supervisory responsibilities.
- May provide input on human resources matters.
Materials Responsibility
- Limited responsibility for material resources such as supplies, equipment, and inventories.
- Minimal control over resources, with low risk of financial loss or waste.
- Involves straightforward problem-solving related to resource management.
Position Requirements
Education
- Associate’s Degree in Nursing required.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN).
Special Training & Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.
- ACLS Certification (must obtain within 9 months of hire).
- ECG Monitoring Training required.
Licensure & Registration
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois required.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa (must obtain within 1 year of hire).
Experience
- No prior experience required.
