EY’s Global Grants, Credits, and Incentives team comprises tax and engineering specialists working with diverse clients, from FTSE 100/250 companies to fast-growing tech startups. Within this team, our specialized group focuses on R&D incentives for Financial Services companies.

About the Opportunity: R&D Tax Manager – Financial Services

This is an excellent opportunity for an established Tax professional to advance their career as an R&D Tax Manager within the Financial Services sector.

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Manager with broad Corporate Tax experience, including HMRC enquiry handling, who is ready to specialize and contribute their skills to our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of R&D claims for diverse businesses, from small to large and complex.
  • Conduct in-depth tax analysis of R&D claim risks, leveraging tax knowledge and legislative review.
  • Review R&D tax computations and implications.
  • Analyze client data and develop appropriate methodologies for R&D claim preparation.
  • Coach and train junior team members.
  • Participate in business development, identifying and securing new opportunities.
  • Assist with HMRC engagement to resolve R&D-related queries.

Skills and Attributes for Success:

  • Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Advisor qualifications preferred.
  • Financial Services sector experience is a plus.
  • R&D claim experience is beneficial, but full training is available.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and adapt to evolving claim preparation methods.
  • Strong writing skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence in public speaking.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with a proven record of initiative and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
