Job Purpose
The Planner will play a pivotal role in the creation and execution of supply chain buying plans within a well-established market-leading company. Reporting to the Head of Supply, the Planner will manage all activities across the product lifecycle for the portfolio of bought-in finished goods, components, and materials. This ensures all supply chains and value streams are professionally planned, scheduled, and governed, including executing the inventory strategy to ensure high availability with managed excess levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a single point of contact for your defined portfolio, driving on-time delivery through effective planning while maintaining the ERP and supporting systems.
- Identify, prioritize, mitigate, and resolve delivery issues.
- Produce credible plans to meet customer demands, including inventory, logistics, and storage considerations.
- Ensure pre-production activities are undertaken to maintain the system with robust, credible data that creates suitable supply plans, taking actions to rectify inaccuracies.
- Work within the business ERP system and interpret and action the planned proposals generated via the MRP outputs.
- Manage orderbook/project plans and make balanced decisions to support business priorities and satisfy customer demands.
- Provide feedback on vulnerabilities and opportunities into the Integrated Business Planning cycle and engage in developing solutions to issues.
- Optimize inventory logistics across the value stream while minimizing customer delivery risk/costs.
- Ensure robust answers to any Sales and Operation Planning questions through the Integrated Business Planning process.
- Participate in business and operational reviews to understand capability to deliver demand requirements and define and manage actions to mitigate risks and issues.
Required Experience, Knowledge, And Characteristics
- Significant experience in purchasing planning and scheduling in a similar role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Decisive, well-organized, systematic, and rigorous approach to planning work and priorities.
- Excellent influencing and interpersonal skills.
- Proven track record of delivering results by successfully working with stakeholders and customers.
- Data-driven with strong analytical and IT skills (Microsoft Office Suite – Excel essential, Power BI preferable); strong understanding of ERP (Dynamics AX preferable); and MRP software.
- Experience working within S&OP/IBP environment is advantageous.
- Proactive in challenging current processes with the intention to improve.
- Highly self-motivated and able to work on own initiative.
