CARE House of Oakland County is the sole children’s advocacy center in Oakland County, providing first rate services to victims of child abuse and neglect. It is a 501(c)(3) non-profit agency based in Pontiac, Michigan, serving the residents of Oakland County Michigan. Founded in 1977 as the Child Abuse and Neglect Council of Oakland County, we currently offer an array of programs focused on the identification and treatment of child abuse victims, and on child abuse prevention.

The Oakland County Child Abuse Medical Response Collaborative is a project led by CARE House of Oakland County in collaboration with Corewell Health. The purpose of the Collaborative is to work with other entities involved in the medical response to child abuse in Oakland County to determine the utilization and impact of the current process and procedures and to develop a comprehensive plan to improve access and better meet the needs of the children and families seeking help.
The Project Manager role within the Collaborative is a two-year, grant-funded contract position. This position will serve as the project lead, convening, and communicating with, community stakeholders and facilitating data collection and analyses through surveys, interviews, and focus groups. The Project Manager will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work across sectors for a common purpose, and a Master’s level knowledge of public health, social services, or child welfare. Upon project completion, CARE House will apply for a continuation of the grant to implement a pilot program based on the outcomes. After the initial contract, there may be an opportunity for continued employment in this position.
Responsibilities:
1. Uncover the disconnects in referrals for trained medical services between the various systems that interact with children who report and experience abuse in Oakland County
2. Engage these systems in developing a comprehensive, unified, systematic response that can be consistently utilized for children to receive appropriate and timely medical examinations performed by clinicians trained in child victimization and trauma following reports of abuse.
3. Determine the current gaps in services, where referrals are coming from and being made to, and the level of awareness of resources to directly address the issue (where to refer children in need of exams)
4. Determine gaps in resources needed to address the issue (e.g. capacity, partners who are part of the child welfare system but not yet part of the collaborative).
5. Utilize Catchafire to develop and implement plans and strategies for collecting and analyzing data
6. Facilitate focus groups and surveys of parents and caregivers to gather information about the resources parents and caregivers were given when their child reported abuse and/or completed a forensic interview
7. Assist the Collaborative in developing a clear vision and strategy for the project, with detailed plan for executing the work, including complete logic model and data collection/analysis taking place.
8. Facilitate meetings with the collaborative, including planning and coordinating collaborative meetings and focus groups, developing surveys, and collecting and analyzing data. Producing reports as necessary and/or required
9. Perform all other duties as assigned.
Education Required:
Minimum of master’s degree in Public Health, master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, or master’s degree in Public Policy.
Experience Required:
Applicants must have training/experience in public health systems, conducting focus groups, and gathering and analyzing data.
Physical Abilities:
Must be familiar with Catchafire, or have experience in a comparable system.
Travel:
Minimal travel is required. May include some travel to local organizations.
Other Requirements:
- Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of automobile insurance.
