About our client:

Our client is a well-established, successful manufacturer of high-quality home furniture sold mostly through various e-commerce platforms such as Amazon, Wayfair, Walmart. Their head office and primary manufacturing facility is in Delta, BC. For this location, they are looking for a Product Engineer who will play a crucial role in supporting our client’s marketing and operations teams in developing, testing, and launching new products successfully. Additionally, the new hire will collaborate with the production team to ensure efficient product assembly and testing processes.

This is an on-site position which will offer the flexibility to occasionally work from home.

Responsibilities:

  • New product launch management: manage the launch process and coordinate internal resources such as marketing, sourcing, production, to deliver new products on given timeline.
  • Bill of Material (BOM) development: Develop cost estimates for materials and labor for new products.
  • Product feedback & refinement: initiate, evaluate, and implement potential changes to product design or manufacturing methods, facilitated by an engineering change order system. Apply engineering principles for the development of all new products e.g. Design for Manufacturability, Mold Flow Analysis, Stress Analysis and Product Platform Standardization.
  • Product testing & refinement: Provide functional testing of products and hardware components, as well as evaluate alternative materials and vendors.
  • New material quality assurance: coordinate the quality approval process when new materials are introduced for new or existing products.
  • Quality: support all aspects of the manufacturing environment, as well as investigate and provide feedback on quality related questions.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or other technical fields.
  • 5-10 years of experience in fast-paced, sales driven, manufacturing environment. Previous managerial or supervisory skills a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize and schedule projects to meet customer deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, hands on and detail oriented.
  • Strong computer skills required, specifically SolidWorks, Microsoft Office, and Excel.
  • Hands-on with prototype building and laboratory testing, quality systems, design for manufacture.
  • Background or familiarity with engineered wood processing and/or furniture design a plus.
  • Capable of disseminating sales and marketing requirements into a functional design which will provide the lowest possible cost solution for manufacturing while meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
