Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care, including obstetrics, family planning, newborn care, pediatrics, and general adult care, based on specialty.
  • Meet minimum patient care productivity standards as required by funding and reimbursement sources.
  • Deliver high-quality, culturally sensitive, and comprehensive healthcare.
  • Offer case management services to patients.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation in medical records, including patient education, medications, referrals, diagnostic tests, and follow-ups.
  • Assist in organizing and participating in special clinics, such as the migrant camp program.
  • Provide services at alternative locations as needed.
  • Oversee support staff in day-to-day patient care management.
  • Participate in case management reviews for specific patient groups, such as OB patients and diabetics.
  • Assist in implementing healthcare plans and achieving quality improvement (QA/QI) goals.
  • Engage in chart audits to assess the success of QA/QI programs.
  • Attend medical staff, OB, QA/QI meetings, and other committees aimed at improving patient care and center operations.
  • Supervise students and residents in healthcare professions.
  • Provide consultation and support to nurse practitioners and physician assistants.
  • Participate in community and hospital-level committees to enhance the center’s integration within the community.
  • Temporarily assume the responsibilities of the Medical Director in their absence if required.
  • Assist the Chief Executive Officer in fulfilling the center’s mission and objectives.
  • Handle protected health information (PHI) in compliance with HIPAA regulations.

HIPAA Compliance

The provider will have access to PHI as part of their duties, using it for treatment and quality assurance operations. In accordance with HIPAA’s minimum necessary standard, the provider will access patient demographic data, scheduling information, and full medical records as needed.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong commitment to serving patients and collaborating with staff from diverse ethnic, economic, cultural, and social backgrounds.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred; willingness to develop Spanish proficiency to provide effective medical care.

Education & Experience

  • Active Oregon medical license and DEA registration.
  • Current staff privileges at Tuality Community Hospital and OHSU, depending on scope of practice.
