Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate payroll records and reports, ensuring compliance with financial policies.
  • Manage and update general ledger account codes within the payroll platform for seamless integration with finance systems.
  • Enter payroll journals, including payroll accruals, into accounting software and submit them for approval to accounting managers.
  • Reconcile payroll accounts with general ledger entries, promptly identifying and resolving discrepancies.
  • Prepare and analyze payroll reports for management, including earnings summaries, deductions, and tax liabilities.
  • Act as a backup to the Payroll Administrator in processing payroll, verifying data, and ensuring accurate and timely employee payments.
  • Assist in handling garnishments, child support payments, and wage audits.
  • Support payroll tax setup, including withholding, unemployment, and local taxes, while monitoring tax payments and notices from federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Ensure payroll data is accurately recorded for timely general ledger journal entries.
  • Coordinate and facilitate workers’ compensation audits by providing necessary documentation, including payroll data, tax reports, contractor information, and financial statements.

Minimum Qualifications and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Strong understanding of payroll accounting principles and practices
  • Experience with payroll software (UKG Ready preferred)
  • Familiarity with accounting software (Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Keen attention to detail and ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
