Contract Physical Therapist

Summer 2024, Part Time

Location: Lake Villa, IL area

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Physical Therapist to join our school-based healthcare team. As a School-Based Physical Therapist, you will work collaboratively with students, parents, teachers, and other professionals to provide physical therapy services to students with diverse needs for the duration of the summer sessions.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough evaluations and assessments to determine students’ physical therapy needs and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Provide direct physical therapy services to students in accordance with their IEP goals and objectives.
  • Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions and techniques to enhance students’ motor skills, balance, coordination, strength, and mobility.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other school personnel to ensure integration of therapy goals into the educational setting.
  • Monitor students’ progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of evaluations, treatment sessions, progress reports, and other required paperwork.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of students’ IEPs.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians to discuss students’ progress, recommendations, and home-based activities.
  • Stay informed about current research, trends, and best practices in school-based physical therapy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Valid state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physical Therapist.
  • Prior experience working with pediatric populations is preferred.
  • Knowledge of IDEA regulations and the special education process is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
