We serve homeschool families by providing engaging outdoor enrichment programs for elementary-aged students during the school year. Our classes blend science, nature studies, and experiential learning, creating dynamic, interdisciplinary lessons that help children explore the world around them while building critical thinking, collaboration, and practical skills.

In addition to our school-year programming, we offer summer camps, field trips for schools, and an early childhood program. Our programs are designed to immerse children in outdoor exploration, encouraging creativity, resilience, and a sense of wonder for the environment.

Through Project Wild Rooted, we strive to nurture future stewards of the earth by creating meaningful, hands-on opportunities for children to grow, connect, and thrive in nature.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced in elementary education with the ability to build and differentiate curriculum for students ages 5.5 to 10 years old.
  • Passionate about nature and the environment, excited to teach outdoors in all weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, etc.).
  • Patient, fun, and loves working with children, able to quickly connect and form positive relationships with students.
  • Committed to learning alongside students, open to exploring new ideas and discoveries as a co-learner.
  • Resilient and adaptable, with the ability to maintain a positive and engaging learning environment in an outdoor setting.

This position follows a 28-week school-year schedule (September–April), Monday–Thursday, 8:30 AM–3:30 PM, with planning time built in. Salary is $18–$25/hour, based on experience.

Summary

As an Outdoor Education Instructor, you will be responsible for leading and facilitating outdoor learning experiences for participants of all ages. Reporting to the Program Director, your role is essential in promoting environmental awareness, teamwork, and personal development through engaging activities. Core skills such as leadership, communication, and safety management are vital, while your education will enhance your ability to deliver educational content effectively. Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 – $25.00 per hour
