Background
Leading Education is an international education consultancy dedicated to helping ambitious students secureplaces at world-leading universities. Their unique online tuition programme fosters curiosity,creativity, and critical thinking skills, essential for gaining admission to prestigious institutions such as Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, LSE, and top medical schools.
Their flagship programme consists of four core components, enabling students to achieve an Oxbridge success rate of 43%, which is double the national average. The organisation is currently in a high-growth phase,having delivered 20,000hours of lessonslast year and expanded into summer schools, EPQ support, and school application services.
Additionally, they run a successful Oxbridge Access Programme, which provides £250,000 worth of free tuition to students from disadvantaged backgrounds annually. Last year, this programme attracted applications from 1/30th of the total number of students from comprehensive schools applying to Oxford and Cambridge.
The Role
They currently have an urgent need for an operations manager to join the team for an initial 3-6 month fixed term contract. The individual would be reporting directly to the founders and be undertaking a number of self-contained projects as well has undertaking a holistic revew of the operations and finance systems.
General Responsibilities
HR / Operations Projects
The projects that would need to be completed, in order of importance, are:
- Applying for a Tier 2 Visa Sponsorship Licence for one of our staff members
- Setting up a corporate structure that spans HK, Singapore and the UK, and assessing the VAT and tax implications thereof
- Recruitment: including a finance role, an ops role, and a possible two further roles.
- Consultancy on a redesign of our ops and finance automations and systems
- General support to the founders as required.
- The Individual
We would like a background that has significant competency at the executive level in both finance and ops, with clear evidence of success in previous temporary roles and bringing self-contained projects to completion within appointed timelines.
Essential Qualifications:
Degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
Professional qualification (e.g CIPD/ MBA, CIMA, ACCA) is highly desirable although QBE will be considered.
Experience:
- Proven experience (3+ years) operations management, preferably in a tutoring or education-related setting with strong HR component.
- Experience in applying for Tier 2 Visa Sponsorship Licences and navigating immigration processes.(preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to set up corporate structures across multiple jurisdictions (HK, Singapore, UK) and a solid understanding of VAT and tax implications. (preferred)
- Track record in human resources and recruitment processes.
- Experience with consultancy projects focused on systems redesign and automation within finance and operations.
Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex financial and operational situations.
- Excellent organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in financial software and tools, as well as experience with automation systems.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
