What the role involves:
- To work with Consultants in the production of new SACT protocols within the hospital and, working with the Lead Cancer Pharmacist and Cancer Pharmacists from other hospitals, checking of new SACT protocols.
- To verify prescriptions for SACT and supportive treatment.
- To support the ordering, storage, supply and billing of SACT, support to the training and accreditation of staff carrying out these processes and to review and develop associated procedures.
- To support communication of SACT treatment with patients and carers, providing specialist input into patient information.
- To use and support staff in the use of the SACT EPMA system within the hospital.
- To support the Lead Cancer Pharmacist in the development and deployment (within the hospital) of SACT associated corporate policies, procedures, training and staff development programmes.
- To support the development of cancer pharmacy services and staff within the hospital.
- To review the management of SACT within the hospital through review of SACT audit, incidents and usage data to ensure SACT is used safely and cost-effectively.
- To work with and support other cancer services pharmacists and pharmacy staff at other hospitals managing SACT in the delivery of cancer pharmacy services. To represent the hospital’s cancer pharmacy service on the SACT Committee.
- To, where required, provide pharmacist cover within the hospital outside of cancer services. .
