About The Opportunity

The Occupational Therapist (OT) – Inpatient and Outpatient is responsible for overseeing the clinical functions of the inpatient setting. The primary duties include providing direct patient care through evaluation, treatment, assessment, and education on adaptive equipment and devices. The OT works closely with the hospital’s interdisciplinary team and provides family/caregiver education as needed. This role creates an environment that supports patient safety and patient-centered care in alignment with the hospital’s mission.

What You Will Do

  • Deliver skilled occupational therapy services as per the physician’s plan of care.

  • Assess patients’ functional levels using appropriate tests and measures to develop or revise care plans.

  • Implement and adhere to protocols that address the physical, psychosocial, and developmental needs of patients across all age groups: neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric.

  • Establish interventions based on evaluations, physician orders, patient goals, and life roles.

  • Provide care in various settings, including the Patient Care Unit, Acute Care Unit, Intensive Care Unit, Surgical/Medical Centers, and Obstetrics Department (if qualified to do so per physician’s orders).

  • Educate and instruct patients, family members, and caregivers on the phases of occupational therapy and the use of prosthetics, splints, orthotic devices, and durable medical equipment.

  • Develop skills to fabricate common static splints as ordered by the physician.

  • Treat patients to alleviate pain, restore function, and maintain optimal performance using therapeutic interventions and modalities.

  • Maintain accurate patient progress records, including any changes in condition, and communicate this to the involved staff.

  • Complete necessary documentation and billing by the end of each treatment.

  • Participate in continuing education courses and in-service presentations for clinical and non-clinical staff.

  • Role model the principles of a Just Culture and Organizational Integrity.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned while maintaining HIPAA compliance.

Experience

  • No prior experience required for this role.

License(s)

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a State of Colorado Occupational Therapy license.

Certification(s)

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Computer/Typing Skills

  • Must possess, or be able to acquire within 90 days, the necessary computer skills to complete job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, and complete online benefits enrollment.

  • Must have a working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking.
