About the job

SuperCare is seeking a dedicated and experienced Occupational Therapist to work within our residential children’s homes, supporting children and young people with learning disabilities, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, and associated diagnoses, many of whom display behaviours that challenge.

This is an exciting opportunity for a confident and resilient OT who is passionate about enhancing the lives of children with complex needs. The role requires a flexible and proactive approach, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, and implement therapy interventions that promote independence and participation in daily activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct functional and sensory assessments to identify the needs of children and young people.
  • Develop and implement individualised therapy plans to support engagement in daily activities.
  • Work closely with residential staff, educators, families, and other professionals to create a supportive environment.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on strategies for managing sensory needs, fine/gross motor skills, self-regulation techniques and independent skills.
  • Participate in monthly multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings (last Thursday of each month).
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to EHCPs, behaviour support plans, and risk assessments where necessary.
  • Travel between Croydon and Ilford, working one day per week at each site.
  • Adhere to professional standards, ensuring compliance with HCPC and RCOT requirements.
  • Maintain your CPD and mandatory training.

Essential Requirements:

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • HCPC registration and membership of RCOT.
  • Experience working with children and young people who display challenging behaviours.
  • Access to your own assessment resources.
  • Confidence and resilience in managing complex cases.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Own professional supervisor, in line with HCPC and RCOT standards.
  • Flexibility to travel between Croydon and Ilford.

Desirable Skills & Qualifications:

  • Sensory Integration training or experience.
  • Experience working in residential or specialist educational settings.
  • Experience working as a paediatric OT.
