Network Engineer

Position Overview:

SMX is seeking a skilled Network Engineer to serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all PMA-271 software products. In this role, you will be responsible for network planning, configuration, troubleshooting, and integration to support Fleet operations. You will collaborate with multiple teams to ensure seamless connectivity, maintain network security, and lead testing efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the Network SME for all PMA-271 software products.
  • Develop network roadmaps and configurations, including Ports, Protocols, and Services Matrix updates and aircraft IP file development.
  • Plan, prepare, and review all network-related documentation and artifacts.
  • Coordinate external connectivity requirements with Platform CYBER teams.
  • Work closely with the Mission Systems team to implement necessary network updates for Fleet operations.
  • Lead network software troubleshooting and issue resolution for both the Fleet and SSA.
  • Oversee the review and submission of Network NATOPS inputs, including checklists, warnings, cautions, and supplementary information.
  • Collaborate with Configuration Management (CM) to maintain HSCMs for all network products.
  • Assist the System Security Administrator (SSA) in updating and managing the System Admin Manual.
  • Lead and conduct network integration and testing efforts in laboratory environments and on test assets.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Security Clearance: Secret (Must be eligible for TS/SCI and willing to submit for a Polygraph).
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in a technical discipline.
    • Substitution: An Associate’s degree with 4+ additional years of experience, or 6+ additional years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in network implementation and sustainment.
  • Strong understanding of network services and protocols, including TCP/IP, OSPF, and EIGRP.
  • In-depth knowledge of LANs, firewalls, routers, and security infrastructure.
  • Proven ability to analyze and optimize network performance, identify issues, and implement solutions.
  • Experience with Wi-Fi and security infrastructure design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
  • Certifications: Security+ or Network+ (required before starting the position).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with networking on aircraft platforms.
