Job Overview
Accelerated Urgent Care, a fast-paced and expanding company, is seeking a friendly, motivated, and customer service-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join our exceptional team. We offer a dynamic and patient-focused work environment. This role requires a highly organized, detail-oriented, independent self-starter who thrives on excellence and enjoys being part of a high-performing team. Prior experience in medical billing for a high-volume urgent care or medical organization is preferred. The position will primarily focus on supporting billing concerns, resolving patient issues, and assisting staff with billing-related support.
Essential Responsibilities:

Provide outstanding customer service by promptly responding to patient calls and written correspondence regarding billing inquiries.

Assist front office staff with billing-related issues, data entry, and process improvements.

Resolve any issues with third-party billing teams and ensure timely claim reviews.

Conduct denial reviews and A/R analysis to enhance collections.

Identify trends with insurance claims and work to resolve issues promptly, maximizing overall collections.

Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.

Take personal responsibility to improve knowledge and skills in healthcare billing.
Minimum Qualifications:

1-2 years of medical billing experience, preferably in urgent care or family medicine.

Strong understanding of insurance types, including PPO, HMO, Medicare, and Medi-Cal.

1-2 years of customer service experience.

1-2 years of experience in a medical office or healthcare setting.

High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Experience:

Medical Billing Certificate (preferred).

Exceptional customer service skills and a positive, empathetic attitude.

Strong communication and listening skills—clear, concise, and friendly.

Ability to collaborate effectively with all staff, including management, providers, and both front and back-office teams.

Proficiency in multitasking and problem-solving.

Excellent verbal and written communication.

Strong computer skills, including familiarity with EMR systems, practice management software, and Excel.

Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks.

Hours: Monday through Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM
