Key Responsibilities
The Medical Assistant 2 plays a vital role in supporting physicians and advanced practice providers by performing a wide range of clinical duties, including:
- Conducting patient intake, discussing symptoms, and obtaining vital signs
- Administering medications and vaccines
- Performing phlebotomy and collecting lab specimens
- Conducting diagnostic screening tests
- Cleaning and sterilizing medical equipment
- Maintaining and preparing examination rooms
- Accurately documenting patient information in the electronic medical records system
This role requires collaboration with the healthcare team to ensure high-quality patient care. While working within defined policies and procedures, the Medical Assistant 2 has the flexibility to prioritize tasks and manage workflow with minimal supervision.
Qualifications
Required:
- Completion of a Medical Assistant training program, or Certified/Registered Medical Assistant or 5+ years of experience with provider approval
- Current CPR certification
- Hands-on phlebotomy experience
- Ability to work on-site at 2562 W Pioneer Pkwy, Pantego, TX 76013
Preferred:
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant (Required for Arizona, Indiana, and South Carolina)
- Experience in medication and vaccine administration
- At least 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant
- Knowledge of Value-Based Care, including HEDIS, CPT/ICD coding, and CAHPS/HOS Patient Experience
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (must pass a proficiency exam)
Work Schedule & Job Details
- Full-Time | 40 Hours per Week | Monday – Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM

- This is a patient-facing role and part of Humana’s Tuberculosis (TB) screening program. If selected, TB screening will be required.
