Basic Function
Provide engineering and project management services to the University community for construction, renovation, and deferred maintenance projects.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Coordinate and work closely and cooperatively with maintenance/trades personnel and vendors to ensure consistency between new construction and rehabilitation project designs for maintenance and repair requirements. Provide payroll and prevailing wage review for internal billing and contractor billing. Provide technical direction, coordination, and support to URI trade shops to ensure effective shop operations.
Assist in providing engineering and technical services in support of the University; these services may include computer-aided design, GIS systems, new equipment review, and technical problem solving.
Assist in maintaining a complete plan and specification record of the as-built condition of buildings, grounds, utilities, roads, etc.; assist in maintaining those records by utilizing the computerized database, where available, and have an understanding of GIS systems.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum of two years construction estimating experience.
- Minimum of two years construction field engineering experience.
- Minimum of two years construction management and administration experience.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of building code requirements and standard construction specifications.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.
- Demonstrated organizational skills.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and present detailed studies and reports to include recommendations concerning the substance of the studies and reports.
- Demonstrated ability to work with software packages that track and provide building data such as layout and square footage.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.

- Demonstrated experience using computer-aided design systems.
- Demonstrated experience in electrical distribution construction.
- Demonstrated experience with roofing and window systems.
- Demonstrated experience working in a large school system.
- Demonstrated knowledge of dormitory and food service practices.
