Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute complex compensation and benefits projects.
- Provide expert advice on compensation, taxation, accounting, and business matters related to intricate transactions.
- Conduct competitive market analysis and deliver both quantitative and qualitative insights.
- Possess strong knowledge of executive compensation taxation, including IRS Code sections 83, 162(m), 280G, and 409A.
- Manage multiple executive compensation engagements across various industries, both within and outside of transaction settings.
- Ensure client satisfaction through timely and effective responses to client needs.
- Participate in client meetings and collaborate within teams to provide integrated compensation and benefits solutions.
- Conduct proxy statement studies and analyze publicly available compensation data.
- Design and implement annual and long-term incentive plans.
- Perform statistical analyses of compensation data and assess the financial impact of compensation structures.
- Research and monitor trends in executive and employee compensation.
- Develop and implement compensation programs for bankruptcy cases, including KEIPs, KERPs, MIPs, and severance programs.
- Assist clients with stakeholder communications and negotiations, including interactions with boards of directors, creditors’ committees, and regulatory bodies.
- Support marketing efforts by developing compensation methodologies, contributing to proposals, and conducting surveys.
- Enhance analytical and communication skills while providing value-driven solutions to clients’ complex challenges.
Engagement and Project Management:
- Oversee daily client engagements and supervise project teams.
- Conduct benchmarking and develop reports to support compensation recommendations.
- Design and evaluate incentive programs while considering tax, accounting, and regulatory implications.
- Perform tax calculations and financial modeling to inform client compensation decisions.
- Draft and review technical memos and advisory letters on compensation and benefits matters.
- Ensure accuracy and reliability in all work products, including Excel models and PowerPoint presentations.
- Interpret and apply legal and regulatory guidelines effectively.
- Manage risk, resource allocation, staffing, and financial performance across multiple engagements, including billing, collections, and budgeting.
- Identify key tax issues and provide clear, concise, and well-reasoned analyses.
- Develop and maintain client relationships while demonstrating an understanding of their businesses.
- Oversee day-to-day account management to ensure timely and accurate deliverables.
- Mentor and support Associates and Senior Associates through training, performance feedback, and professional development.
- Balance workload and deadlines to ensure efficiency, quality, and effectiveness in project execution.
- Foster a collaborative environment that values diverse skills, perspectives, and experiences.
- Contribute to business development by identifying opportunities for additional services, thought leadership, client pitches, and process optimization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- One of the following certifications required: Juris Doctor (JD), Master’s in Taxation, CPA license, or a specialized compensation and benefits certification.
- 5–7 years of experience in compensation and benefits, with a focus on technical issues.
- Strong expertise in executive compensation, statistical analysis, incentive plan design, and pay structure evaluation.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts for clients.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- High motivation to learn, grow, and contribute to the firm’s success.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
