Key Responsibilities:
- Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux-based servers and systems
- Provide support and guidance for client environments, ensuring systems run smoothly and efficiently
- Manage server deployments, updates, and patches to ensure security and performance
- Collaborate with other teams to design, implement, and maintain IT solutions for a wide range of clients
- Work with cloud technologies, virtualisation, and containerisation tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
- Participate in on-call rotation for out-of-hours support and incident response
- Document system configurations and procedures to ensure consistency and operational efficiency.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Strong experience in Linux server administration (e.g., Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu)
- Solid understanding of networking concepts and protocols (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP)
- Experience with server virtualisation and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure)
- Familiarity with automation and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
- Experience with web and application servers (e.g., Apache, Nginx)
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to system administration
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work independently and within a team
Desirable:
- Experience with containerisation and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
- Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, ELK stack)
- Certifications such as CompTIA Linux+, RHCE, or equivalent are a bonus
