The Role
Under the general supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Physician, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will assist in delivering patient care by recording vital signs, discussing primary health concerns, performing tests, supporting procedures, and maintaining accurate documentation. The LPN will collaborate with the RN and/or Physician to assess, plan, evaluate, and provide nursing care. This role supports the mission and goals of Samaritan Daytop Village.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with patient care by measuring vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse rate, respiration, temperature, and weight, as well as discussing primary health concerns.
- Administer injections and perform diagnostic tests as needed.
- Gather and document patients’ medical histories and complete all pretreatment procedures, entering the information into the computer system.
- Follow the care plans and instructions provided by the Physician and Registered Nurse.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of all care provided to patients.
- Ensure proper charting, documentation, and management of patients’ medical records.
- Clean and dress wounds, ensuring proper wound care practice.
