About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Data Scientist with a strong background in marketing analytics and data science to join our dynamic, fast-growing startup. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of data-driven marketing strategies. As the Lead Data Scientist, you will help drive business decisions through data models, predictive analytics, and experimentation, with a strong emphasis on customer acquisition, retention, and long-term growth.

You’ll be joining a data science team that is both technical and business-oriented, working closely with cross-functional teams to optimize marketing efforts, understand customer behavior, and build impactful data models that drive business performance. If you thrive in a high-growth, data-rich environment and are passionate about applying your data science expertise to solve marketing challenges, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • End-to-End Data Science: Build and deploy predictive models, from inception to production, providing actionable insights around demand-supply matching, customer behavior, and marketing strategy.
  • Marketing & Experimentation: Design and run A/B and multivariate tests, ad testing, creative optimization, and marketing spend distribution across various channels (e.g., social media, direct mail, TV).
  • Customer Acquisition & Retention: Analyze customer data and identify opportunities for increasing customer lifetime value (LTV), improving retention strategies, and optimizing pricing, promotions, and cross-selling.
  • Strategic Thinking: Contribute to long-term business strategy, focusing on how data science can improve marketing decision-making, enhance LTV, and reduce churn.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with marketing, data engineers, and software teams to integrate models into existing systems, improve processes, and provide ongoing feedback to optimize performance.
  • Modeling and Reporting: Help build and manage marketing models, including demand prediction, customer segmentation, and incrementality analysis. Leverage cloud-based platforms (AWS/Snowflake/Fivetran) for data pipeline management.
  • Ad-hoc Analysis: Conduct detailed analysis of marketing data to uncover trends, track key metrics, and provide insights to business leaders on campaign performance, user behavior, and market trends.
  • Portfolio Management: Oversee and manage projects, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business goals, while providing leadership to junior team members

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience: Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in data science, with a focus on marketing or customer-facing products. Experience with consumer goods (CPG), subscription models, or life sciences is a plus.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Python (for model development and data analysis, no R)
  • ETL processes and familiarity with modern data stacks (e.g., Snowflake, AWS, DBT, Fivetran)
  • Tableau for data visualization (a dedicated team member handles most dashboarding)
  • Ability to build and deploy machine learning models to production
  • Business Acumen: Strong understanding of how data science can impact business goals, particularly in marketing. Ability to think strategically about product marketing, customer behavior, and business outcomes.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and critical thinking
  • High adaptability and comfort in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for business stakeholders
  • Positive attitude, curiosity, and a collaborative mindset.
