What You Will Do

  • Prepare food according to patient requirements and café recipes, ensuring proper serving sizes for both café guests and patients.

  • Produce small to large batches of food using advanced cooking techniques.

  • Maintain high sanitation standards as per federal, state, and local health regulations, including cleaning and sanitizing workstations and equipment.

  • Follow recipes for preparing, seasoning, cooking, and tasting food products.

  • Assist the manager with food ordering, receiving inventory, and ensuring proper rotation, labeling, and dating of stock.

  • Complete required HACCP documentation, including recording the temperatures of refrigerators and freezers at each shift.

  • Oversee production staff, assign tasks, and may use production software to enter pre- and post-production data. May also assist with inventory and entering data into the production software system.

  • Attend all staff meetings and in-services, and if missed, follow up with leadership to review materials and complete any required quizzes.

  • Collaborate with other nutrition services staff to ensure all patient and staff needs are met and all tasks are completed.

  • Role-model the principles of a Just Culture and ensure HIPAA compliance.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience

  • Minimum of four years of related work experience, with hospital cook experience preferred.

  • Strong working knowledge of food preparation and the application of advanced cooking techniques.

Certification(s)

  • No certifications required.

Computer / Typing Skills

  • Must possess or be able to obtain the computer skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, and complete online benefits enrollment within 90 days.

  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English is required.
