The Office of Information Technology at the Dell Medical School is looking for an IT Controller.
Purpose
The IT Controller will be responsible for delivering value to the organization and will report to the Director, Enterprise IT Portfolio Management. This position will execute their duties with the support of the Office of the CIO. Although not directly managing team members, this position provides opportunities for career advancement opportunities into IT leadership. The IT Controller position has responsibilities above and beyond Finance Managers, as outlined below.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for managing annual budget development process, along with ongoing Financial Planning & Analysis functions. The IT Controller will work extensively with business unit leaders in education, research, and clinical, as well as internal and external stakeholders, to provide decision support around accounting and business decisions.
- Subject matter expert who provides insight and direction on IT transformation processes, including EPR project initiatives, working closely with internal and external stakeholders.
- Acts as primary point of contact and liaise with Dell Medical Finance and University-wide Finance organizations (Procurement, DMS Finance, ERP project etc.).
- Directs IT Financial Management (ITFM) structure at the behest of the Office of CIO. Duties include, but are not limited to, development and ongoing maintenance of analytical reporting, account structure, crosswalks and reconciliations across matrixed management structure, consolidations, project-based accounting, and process management.
- Develops and maintains comprehensive 5-year, project-based forecasts for OPEX and CAPEX based initiatives.
- Special projects and other duties as assigned.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification, and 10 (ten) years of progressive accounting experience. ERP initiative management. Exceptional written and verbal communication. Excellent planning and organization skills. Efficient and timely decision making. Maintaining courteous aggressive action. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated experience in healthcare IT. Experience with technical team building and team management. Demonstrated leadership with process improvement initiatives, executive stakeholder relationships, and/or enterprise change management. Experience with State of Texas, or University of Texas Finance and Accounting processes and requirements. Ability to delegate tasks to team members and hold them accountable. Experience to manage multi-discipline internal and external experts. Demonstrates excellent planning skills and the use of project planning tools (MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, etc.). Experience with applicable project controlling tools and templates. Comfortable working in a matrixed reporting environment with various stakeholders.
