Job Overview: Interpreter
The Interpreter provides in-person and remote language support to ensure accurate, impartial, and confidential communication between Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals and service providers. Responsibilities include delivering professional interpretation services, utilizing software to manage assignments, and participating in trainings and assessments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver accurate, confidential, and impartial interpretation for LEP individuals and service providers across various settings, including healthcare facilities, schools, community organizations, and government agencies.
- Provide interpretation in-person, via phone, videoconference, or other virtual platforms.
- Maintain assignment records and track work hours using designated software.
- Participate in trainings, assessments, and professional development opportunities.
- Support special projects and initiatives as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education & Certifications:
- High school diploma strongly preferred.
- Interpretation certification preferred.
Experience:
- Prior professional interpretation experience is preferred.
- Experience working with refugee and immigrant communities is highly desirable.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong ability to build trust with clients, colleagues, and partners.
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written).
- Fluency in Pashto is required.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office.
- Reliable transportation for on-site assignments.
Working Environment:
- A mix of office-based, remote, and fieldwork within the service area.
- May involve occasional evening and weekend assignments.
