Requirements

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of inpatient coding experience across multiple service lines, including:
    • Neurology
    • Cardiology
    • General Surgery
    • Orthopedics
    • Level II Trauma
  • CCS Coding Certification
  • Proficiency in Cerner and 3M 360 w/ CAC (Computer-Assisted Coding)
  • Ability to write physician queries
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across different teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • RHIT Certification
  • Associate’s Degree in Health Information Technology

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Inpatient Coder to manage complex, multi-day, multi-specialty inpatient visits. This role involves:

  • Assigning ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes with precision
  • Working closely with medical staff to ensure accurate and comprehensive diagnoses
  • Formulating physician queries to clarify documentation
  • Monitoring bill hold reports to resolve outstanding issues
  • Acting as a liaison with the Clinical Documentation Specialist Team and Quality Department

A strong understanding of anatomy, pathophysiology, and pharmacology is essential for accuracy in coding high-acuity cases.


Additional Details:

  • Productivity expectations: 2 charts per hour
  • Accuracy requirement: 95% or higher, reviewed through quarterly audits
  • Quarterly in-person meeting attendance is mandatory
