What You’ll Be Doing

At Martin-Baker our purpose is to save lives and as Import Logistics Coordinator within the International Logistics Department, you’ll support this mission. The team transacts between 70-100 imports a month and with newly implemented import processes, this is an exciting time to join the team.

The role has various responsibilities which will encompass coordination tasks such as providing clearance instructions for items which have been sourced by Martin-Baker for own use, items which are being returned for repair and test equipment. Managing the Return Material Authorisation (RMA) process from initial contact from the customer, until the item is received at Martin-Baker. The role includes collaboration with multiple stakeholders such as carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers and HMRC . You’ll be involved with Customs Compliance, controlling the Inward Processing Relief process from RMA to Bill of Discharge. Working closely with import brokers to ensure compliance with import and customs procedures including but not limited to Returned Goods Relief, IPR (for Repairs), and Home Use.

You’ll organise and maintain comprehensive import shipment records, ensuring that documentation is complete and accessible for audit purposes, verifying/reviewing shipping documents / MSS reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with customs requirements. Working closely with internal teams with high professional standards, you’ll also proactively communicate with external partners to resolve issues.

Characteristics & Skills

  • Established experience of import processes within a manufacturing environment including not limited to Returned Goods Relief, Inward Processing Relief (for Repairs), and Home Use.
  • Strong experience of using Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience of using SAP or equivalent enterprise systems experience would be beneficial (can be trained).
  • Be a team player, with the ability to work independently.
  • Have an eye for detail and getting things right.
