Overall Purpose of the Role

  • To create and deliver an exciting and innovative hospitality food menu, ranging from working lunches for the Headmaster to Open Day events for prospective pupils, parents and guardians.
  • The role holder will work alongside the Hospitality Manager and the client’s event team in the planning, production and delivery of hospitality events.
  • To form part of a talented and ambitious culinary team.
  • To deliver great service in line within all Company policies, procedures and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute menus that reflect culinary trends and the preferences of our clients
  • Oversee all aspects of food preparation, ensuring that all dishes are prepared to the highest quality standards
  • Arrange and conduct tastings when required.
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure a smooth operation
  • Collaborate with the Hospitality Manager to create innovative culinary concepts and experiences
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Continuously improve culinary techniques and stay updated with industry trends and developments
  • Produce allergen reports for all menus served.

Cost Management

  • Produce cost estimates for forthcoming events and final post event costings.
  • Manage the menus on the Hospitality booking system – Bluerunner.
  • Place food orders as required via FBOL
  • Arrange, manage and cost additional labour required to assist on events
  • Assist Hospitality manager with accurate and timely monthly Client Issues reports
  • Ensure cost records are accurately inputted and maintained
  • All food wastage is recorded and minimised
  • Ensure all customer requirements are communicated to all departments in advance to ensure effective planning
  • Operate secure stock ordering, receipt, issues and control systems. Stocktake as required.

Health and Safety

  • Complete the One Compass Welcome prior to the commencement of employment.
  • Receive, read and understand the contents of the Employee Guide to Working with Compass
  • Taking reasonable care for your own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by what you do or what you fail to do.
  • Co-operate with your line manager on HSE matters.
  • Correctly using work equipment, personal protective equipment in accordance with training and instructions provided.
  • Not interfere with or misuse anything provided for HSE purposes.
  • Report HSE hazards, accidents, incidents, illness and diseases to your line manager.
  • Complete Level 2 HSE e-learning “Working Safely” (and Working Safely with Food, if appropriate) within 20 weeks of commencing employment.
