Primary Responsibilities
Under general supervision, the Lift Truck Operator (LTO) / Warehouse Worker is responsible for the safe and efficient receipt, storage, and shipment of food products. This includes operating various equipment, such as sit-down and stand-up forklifts, stand-up straddle trucks, walk-behind pallet jacks, double pallet jacks, and radio frequency (RF) equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently load and unload freight, moving products to appropriate storage areas within the facility.
- Properly stack, store, pick, and assemble orders for shipment while ensuring accuracy and product integrity.
- Inspect freight for damage, infestation, and labeling accuracy, sorting, wrapping, packing, or repacking as necessary.
- Operate warehouse equipment in compliance with OSHA safety standards.
- Maintain production standards while ensuring a clean and organized work environment.
- Perform additional tasks as needed, such as inventory management, equipment cleaning, and forklift battery changes.
Qualifications & Experience
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- At least three (3) months of relevant work experience preferred.
Preferred Skills & Attributes
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Flexibility to work overtime, evenings, or weekends as needed.
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to attendance policies.
Physical Requirements
To successfully perform this role, individuals must meet the necessary physical demands, including but not limited to:
- Operating a forklift and other warehouse equipment.
- Sitting, hearing, talking, and using close vision for monitoring tasks.
- Using hands to grasp, handle, or manipulate controls.
- Occasionally standing, kneeling, or crouching as required.
- Working in environments with temperature variations from -15°F (freezer) to outdoor ambient temperatures.
- Tolerating heights up to 30 feet and retrieving products from elevated areas within a safety cage.
- Standing for up to 5 hours within an 8-hour shift.
- Lifting or carrying up to 70 lbs. over a minimum distance of 6 feet without mechanical assistance.
