Position overview

The Food Safety/Vendor Assurance Manager maintains compliance with regulatory requirements in a joint USDA and FDA inspected establishment. At Raw Seafoods, Inc. our Food Safety programs are expected to exceed requirements of the BRC Standard and exceed safety standards for our customers. This role works closely with Sales, Production, Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, Sanitation, and Research & Development Departments to ensure quality, safety, and sanitation standards are met and maintained.

Essential Functions and Duties

  • Analyze food safety production practices and provide technical recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Quality Assurance Manager to update documents and records.
  • Assist in creating, validating, and assessing HACCP Plans.
  • Participate in internal validations and process authority validation data collection.
  • Assist in leading 3rd party, customer, chain of custody, social compliance, and government audits.
  • Ensure federal compliance of finished product packaging and labeling.
  • Investigate nonconformances including root cause analysis and corrective and preventative actions.
  • Manage Supplier Approval program, including assessment of fitness to supply raw materials and vendor communications.
  • Experience with Trace Gains platform a plus.
  • Audit supplier facilities to minimize risk to customers.
  • Create and update employee training.
  • Experience with Alchemy a plus.
  • Participate in internal auditing and inspection functions.
  • Assist in managing Document Control System.
  • Collaborate with Sales and R&D on fulfilling customer Quality Assurance and Technical requirements and needs.
  • Manage creation, maintenance, and updating of Finished Product Specifications and the Specification Register.
  • Manage New Product Set up in customer portals.
  • Assess Food Fraud risk and vulnerability.
  • Assess Food Security risk and vulnerability.
  • Provide for continual professional growth opportunities of direct reports.
  • Participate in additional job-related training and certifications, as needed.
