About the Role
With a fleet of over 49,000 vehicles—ranging from traditional fuel to electric, LCVs to HGVs—maintaining our vehicles is a true team effort. As we invest in modernising our fleet, you’ll have the chance to work on a wide range of makes and models. Now is the perfect time to join Royal Mail as a Fleet Workshop Assistant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out tyre maintenance, including re-grooving, fitting, inflation, balancing, and puncture repairs.
- Perform basic repairs, such as replacing light bulbs, mirrors, doors, and wiper blades.
- Handle general maintenance tasks like fluid top-ups, pressure washing vehicles, and loading/unloading test weights.
- Conduct minor body repairs, assist vehicle technicians, and present vehicles for MOT testing.
- Operate a Forklift Truck (FLT) for loading and unloading—a licence is preferred but not essential.
About You
While full training will be provided, we are looking for candidates with hands-on experience in manual work, using tools to complete tasks efficiently and logically. There is also an opportunity to gain accreditation/qualification for compliance testing as part of your development.
Essential Skills & Requirements:
- Valid UK Driving Licence: A full manual UK licence is required; an HGV Licence (Category 2) is preferred for vehicle transportation.
- High Standards: You take pride in your work and ensure tasks are completed effectively.
- Flexibility: You are willing to work on a flexible shift rota and support your team when needed.
