Company Overview
In the 1920s, Midland Bank was one of the world’s most powerful financial institutions. To commemorate its success, the bank sought a new London headquarters—an architectural statement that would set it apart from the traditional Victorian buildings of The City. For such a monumental task, there was only one choice: Sir Edwin Landseer Lutyens, or ‘Ned’ to those who knew him best.
Renowned for designing grand buildings for the wealthy and elite, Lutyens spent four years crafting a 29,450 sqm Grade I-listed masterpiece, embodying the strength and stability expected of a bank. Midland Bank was later acquired by HSBC, which occupied the space until 2007 before relocating to its new headquarters in Canary Wharf.
In 2012, entrepreneur Ron Burkle recognized the building’s potential and envisioned a revolutionary approach to hospitality. Over the next five years, an ambitious transformation took place, leading to the grand opening of The Ned in 2017—one of London’s most significant hotel launches in recent decades.
The Ned’s expansion continued in 2022 with the launch of The Ned NoMad in New York and The Ned Doha in Qatar, each housed in architecturally and historically significant buildings. Coming in 2024 is Ned’s Club Washington, DC, the brand’s first-ever standalone members-only property. No matter the location, The Ned and Ned’s Club share the same vision: creating an exclusive space where like-minded professionals can connect, work, and unwind.
Working at The Ned and Ned’s Club means being part of a dynamic and inclusive environment, enjoying some of the best benefits in the industry, forming lifelong connections, and discovering limitless career growth opportunities in hospitality.
