This role involves leading the Estimating team. As a working manager, the Estimating Manager will support in preparing estimates, gathering and evaluating proposals, and reviewing drawings, specifications, and related documents. They will calculate costs by analyzing labor, materials, and timeline requirements. This position is based at the Brampton Office and supports operations in both Brampton and Woodstock.
The ideal candidate for the Estimating Manager role should exhibit a leadership style that fosters results-oriented, task-focused collaboration. They must possess keen attention to detail, a sense of urgency, and the ability to make decisions and adapt quickly to changing conditions through practical and efficient methods. Responsibilities
- Ensure bids are accurate, meet contract and company requirements, and are delivered on time and within budget.
- Meet project completion deadlines, focusing on solutions that enhance production and efficiency.
- Maintain procedures for estimating, models, scope, and proposal templates.
- Prepare and review bid documents for submission.
- Create materials take-off and estimates.
- Use software to manage data and ensure efficient information retrieval.
- Support project management by preparing estimates for change notices.
- Lead and manage direct reports, providing coaching and development opportunities.
- Maintain professional relationships with sub-contractors and vendors, emphasizing exceptional customer satisfaction, quality, safety, and value-added services.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with team members, including Sales, Operations, Engineering, Field, Purchasing, and Finance.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Graduate in Civil Engineering Technology.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the construction/concrete industry.
- At least 10 years of estimating experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of managerial experience.
- Skilled in reading and interpreting architectural, structural, civil, and precast shop drawings.
- Proficient in understanding technical specifications for divisions 3, 0, and 1.
- Preferred experience in precast prestressed concrete.
- Experience with BIM software is advantageous.
- Familiarity with OBC, NBC, and CSA standards is beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Technologically savvy; experience with software, data, and reports is a plus.
- Ability to take responsibility, communicate effectively, and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional time management and organizational abilities.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills across all departments and staffing levels.
- Enthusiastic about working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, and customer-focused environment.
