Overview of KU

Position Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen or a non-U.S. citizen legally authorized to work in the United States. (Naturalized U.S. citizens and non-U.S. citizens must provide official documentation as proof of eligibility.)
- Must possess a valid form of identification for background checks and hiring requirements (e.g., driver’s license, passport, birth certificate).
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must successfully pass a comprehensive background check.
- Must have no felony convictions or diversions, and no convictions or diversions for misdemeanor domestic violence offenses or their equivalent.
- Must obtain NCIC certification within the first six months of employment.
- Must be able to work assigned 10-hour shifts with rotating days off.
- Must have correctable hearing that allows for clear radio and telephone communication with field units, with or without accommodations (subject to a hearing examination).
- Must have correctable vision sufficient to quickly and accurately read computer screens, maps, and printouts.
- Must be capable of performing all essential job functions without posing a direct threat to personal or public health and safety.
- Must be available for occasional call-ins or extended shifts beyond normal hours, often with little to no advance notice.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- No prior experience necessary; however, all new employees must complete at least 12 weeks of in-house training and demonstrate competency before being allowed to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in emergency or non-emergency communications network operations.
- Familiarity with multi-line phone systems.
